Education Week at the Statehouse

This week, as the legislature gears up to start hearing more bills, we’ve had a continual lineup of Education groups in the building, especially in our Senate Education Committee.  Here’s just a quick list of the people and groups who have presented information to us:

Monday:  Pres. Chuck Staben from University of Idaho,  Pres. Joe Dunlap from NIC, Pres. Jeff Fox from College of Southern Idaho (CSI), Pres. Bert Glandon from College of Western Idaho (CWI)

Tuesday:  Director Brenda Miller from Northwest Professional Educators, CEO Cheryl Charlton from Idaho Digital Learning Academy (IDLA), VP Glen Zollman from Think Through Math

Wednesday:  Pres. Bob Kustra from Boise State U., Pres. Arthur Valias from Idaho State U., Pres. Anthony Fernandez from Lewis Clark State College, Zach Wesley from the Idaho Parent Teacher Assoc.(PTA)

Thursday:  Administrator Dwight Johnson from Professional -Technical Ed. State of Idaho, Principal Craig Miller from Technical Careers High School in Idaho Falls, Pres. Steven Albiston from Eastern idaho Technical College, Manager Emily Bybee from Imagine Learning Language Literacy.

Our Ed. Committee meets for two hours a day, 4 days a week.  In addition to the presentations, we’ve been working on rules, rules, rules.

I’m including some photos from the School Choice event which was out on the Capitol steps on Monday.  First Lady Lori Otter and Superintendent of Public Instruction Sherri Ybarra  told the large crowd of students and parents that they support School Choice.  So do I.
